Justin Nordine was born and raised in Grand Junction, Co. In 2007, after 5 years of teaching fine art to urban city students in Denver, CO., Justin walked away fromteaching to follow a dream of being a full time tattoo artist and fine art gallery owner. In October 2008, Justin opened The Raw Canvas Tattoo Studio and Art Gallery a new kind of tattoo studio that brought together not only the art of tattooing, but local fineartists into an urban styled art gallery where he puts on major art and music events every other month. These events have brought in 100's of 1000's of people into his studio and gallery. By showcasing local art, music and food, The Raw Canvas has become a major point of interest in the grand valley. Because of the success, The Raw
Canvas, moved to their new location, 507 Main Street in Grand Junction, Colorado in 2011. The 2000 sq ft facility houses an elite art gallery, 6 tattoo artists and brings in guest artists from all over the world each month. In addition to Justin's success as a tattoo artist, in which he creates vivid images of fine art and watercolor style tattoos on the skin while implementing traditional tattoo techniques, he has become one of the most well known watercolor/fine art tattoo artists in the industry. In addition, he has taken home many awards for his work at conventions all over the country.
Justin’s work is unique, vivid and derives from his fine art and graphic art studies in college. With a bachelor of arts from Mesa State College in 2002 with en emphasis on painting, Justin has been able to use his love of painting and apply these techniques and ideas to the skin.
